A Relationship in Four Days Continued

Apparently Sundance was good to the director of A Relationship in Four Days- Peter Glanz. The video interview above provides some insight to the feature length version of the short- The Longest Week. It would be incredible to see the story in the feature form. Hopefully it will end up in production and not in a script library.

The combination of a short film attached to a feature length script works well for independent and young filmmakers. Especially those filmmakers who are interested in actually directing their screenplay. The short film can exhibit the qualities and vision that a potential financier, agency, or studio is looking for in new talent.

Park City Mtn Resort

The view from the top of the summit at Park City Mountain Resort is stunning. Looking out over the Wasatch range is incredible. The forecast was wrong and I couldn't be happier. Clear skies and plenty of sun made charging the powder filled bowls a blast. With about 9 inches of new snow the trails were fun until about 10:30 when the main passages were torn up and mogul'd. After getting first tracks at the Sundance resort the day before the crowd at Park City seemed monstrous. I did get in about 6 hours of riding per day and wished that I had a camera for some of the frontside sprays I threw over ridges @ Sundance. Nasty. My 15 day Utah adventure is coming to a close.

A Relationship in Four Days

NYC + Truffaut on Methamphetamine = My Sundance short film recommendation.

"How can you be a Marxist, you ride first class on airplanes?"
To which Paul replied, "I know, I just wish everyone could".

Rich contrast black and white images make up the scooter "tour de force" of a modern metropolitan relationship. An homage to the cinemaography of the French New Wave the short is exquisitely shot. The dialouge is catchy and the talent as beautiful as a haute couture advertisement. The obtuse scenes are held together with quirky narration and bold titles.
While living in Ohio, I had a similar idea about a male character who passed a woman on the subway each day and imagined the relationship possibilities. A Relationship in Four Days shares the theme and delivers a far more stylish piece than I could have ever imagined.

U2 3D Edit

For the past day I've been editing and doing graphics for the Live @ Sundance U2 3D spot. We were able to shoot some awesome footage of the band before the Premiere. Earlier this month I shot interviews with the crew from 3ality- the company that produced and did the 3D work for the film. They have some seriously cool equipment and are passionate about their 3D technology. U2 3D comes out in theaters nationwide in less than three days. Make sure you check it out in IMAX 3D if available in your town.

Live @ Sundance Day III: Snowboard

Ride Park City

Finally got a taste of the Utah powder. A couple of quick runs down the slope behind our condominium. The temperature was warmer then the past few days- a brisk 22 degrees. A full day of riding will happen on the 28th- I am super stoked. The photo above was captured with my Canon HV-10. Which was set up on a mini tripod next to the kicker. Tonight I will be shooting the U2 3D premiere. Hopefully recording some interviews with the band. Tomorrow we will be posting the clip on the Sundance Live website.

Live @ Sundance Day III My Edit

My edit of Live @ Sundance "In Bruges" has been posted on the Sundance Live festival page. The player in the post below will play it. It is the video on the bottom right.

I got a chance to check out the screening and meet the director Martin McDonagh- it was a blast. Make sure to check out the film in theaters this winter.

Live @ Sundance 2008

Goodbye seventy degree high, Hello one degree low

Salt Lake City comes at you like a spider-monkey: swirling air, bumpy descent, the chilling rush of de-planing, cut to: white out. Snow covered roads and mountain sides are the most beautiful reminder that you can't drive in snow anymore. When was the last time you drove in snow?

The last time you drove?

For me it has been weeks without driving and over a year without driving in snow.

Tomorrow we begin to shoot.
